Situated along the west bank of the river Ganges, Varanasi is one of the seven sacred places for the Hindus. The city is proud to be one of the oldest living cities of the world whose 2,500 years of long and vast history is intensely infused in the Hindu mythology. The renowned novelist Mark Twain once wrote,
“Benaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together!"
